ATSU Community Health and Wellness Day held

The fifth annual ATSU Free Community Health and Wellness Day (FCHWD) was held at Chandler CARE center on April 28 in cooperation with the Chandler Unified School District. This event is student driven and was originally started by a group of ATSU students interested in becoming involved in the community and providing services to individuals in need. Since the first year, FCHWD has continued to grow, becoming one of the largest community service events sponsored by the University. This year, more than 250 individuals were provided with free healthcare services.

Students from all ATSU Arizona campus programs participated by offering free services related to their respective programs. Provided were physical exams given by the PA and SOMA students; hearing assessments by audiology; balance assessments by PT; vision screenings by OT; obstacle course and nutrition information by AT; and dental sealants, screenings, and oral health education by ASDOH students.

“The event has become a great tradition that aligns with the University’s mission of community- mindedness, interprofessional education, and serving the underserved,” said Taylor Metcalf, D2, Student Government Association (SGA) and FCHWD co-chair. Tesa Renteria, OMS I, SGA, also served as FCHWD co-chair.
