The Society of American Indian Dentists (SAID) student chapter, along with George Blue Spruce, DDS, MPH, assistant dean, ATSU-ASDOH, and alumni DezBaa Damon, DMD, ’07; Gwen Werner, DMD, ’08; and Nicole Gore, DMD, ’09; gathered for a graduation party on May 12. The celebration was held to honor ASDOH’s American Indian dental students as they transition from dental school into their professional careers.

“The SAID graduation party gave us the opportunity to let the graduates know that we are very proud of their accomplishments, dedication, and perseverance,” said Lisa Begay, D2, president, SAID student chapter. “It is truly incredible to have six American Indian dental students graduating in one class from one dental school. We are thankful to Dr. Blue Spruce, ASDOH Dean Jack Dillenberg, and ASDOH Vice Dean James Bell for attending the event and being supportive of SAID. They have been an integral part of our organization, and their dedication to American Indian dental students has been paramount to increasing the number of American Indian dental students.”
