A BIG bite for kids: Appleton Contest benefits ASDOH’s Children Clinic

Businesses and private citizens encouraged to participate to benefit the Valley’s youth

MESA, Ariz. (June 2, 2006 ) – A Hollywood smile with gleaming, pearly white teeth is only a dream for most people, however dreams will become reality for one lucky person who will win up to $10,000 in dental work as part of the ‘Apple-a-Day’ contest sponsored by Appleton Dental Plan and Classic Dental in Scottsdale.

The contest will conclude June 30 as individuals and businesses are encouraged to purchase one of the available 100 tickets at $50 each. All proceeds will go to those in need at the children’s clinic of the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ASDOH) in Mesa. Every ticket purchased in the Apple-a-Day contest receives a free Oral Evaluation Exam and X-Rays from Dr. Tony Hashemian, sponsor of the contest.

“Poor oral healthcare is the most consistent case seen by nurses in public school settings,” Dr. Hashemian says. “The children’s clinic at Arizona’s only dental school does the best job of outreach to these children and ensuring they have long-term solutions and a personalized oral health plan.”

Hashemian has a record of being involved and giving his time, finances and energy to dental projects that promote public health. Hashemian is a proud member of: American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association, Central Arizona Dental Society, Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health Development Council and sits on an Advisory Board for Arizona Health magazines.

“It is a great honor to partner with a practicing dental professional who embodies the same values as ASDOH,” ASDOH Dean Dr. Jack Dillenberg says. “The goal of our children’s clinic is to provide superior oral healthcare to every child who walks through the door. With the help of Dr. Hashemian, that goal will continue to be a reality.”
