Still Research Institute welcomes new postdoctoral fellow

Debosree Roy, PhD, recently joined the team at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) in the Still Research Institute. She received her PhD in Health Services Research from the University of North Carolina and comes to ATSU with extensive experience in health economics and outcome research, including pharmacoeconomics and cost effectiveness.

Under the mentorship of J. Michael Menke, DC, PhD, Still Research Institute’s associate director of research, Dr. Roy is currently working on a capacity-building project which engages traumatic brain injury survivors and their caregivers in research.

”We are currently collaborating with the Brain Injury Alliance of Arizona and collecting survivor perspective on resources available and resources needed. We are also building a research community which includes survivors, clinicians and other stakeholders, which will hopefully foster better understanding of the disease process and inform better treatment decisions in the future,” says Dr. Roy.

Dr. Roy is also mentored by Joy Lewis, DO, PhD, FACP, and works closely with her on several funded, and non-funded, projects. These projects are in partnership with the National Association for Community Health Clinics and agencies like Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health Resources and Services Administration, who are important research partners for several schools and departments within the University.

When asked what she likes most about her experience thus far at ATSU, Dr. Roy described working at ATSU as “therapeutic.”

“The faculty and staff at ATSU are some of the best people I have met so far in my life. Everyone is really passionate about making a difference, especially in helping out those who have fallen through the cracks, and this is what I was looking for. My mentors are great scientists and even greater human beings. I consider myself blessed to have been given this opportunity to join them in their individual and combined missions.”

When she is away from the Still Research Institute, Dr. Roy enjoys music, reading, and meditation.

Welcome to ATSU, Dr. Roy!
