March 19, 2018
Posted In: Arizona Campus, ASDOH, Awards, Student Headlines

Katie Takach, D4, was recognized by the American Association of Public Health Dentistry with the 2018 Student Merit Award. Award recipients are invited to present their research projects at the upcoming National Oral Health Conference. Takach’s presentation, “The Oral Health Needs of Women Inmates in Phoenix, Arizona,” will explore the financial, social, and psychological barriers that prevent populations from accessing oral healthcare.

“The project has allowed me to better understand barriers to care,” says Takach. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share my work, while collaborating with other dental providers in the public health field.”

Takach will present her work at the National Oral Health Conference, April 24-26 in Louisville, Kentucky.

My name is Priscilla Rivera and I am an incoming dental student. I was wondering if I could get more information on how to participate in this kind of research as I am highly interested in it. I am currently a part of a program at the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona that focuses on Maternal and Child health and would love to use what I have learned to further my research interests.

  2. Ann Spolarich says:

    Hi Priscilla

When you enroll at ASDOH, all requests to participate in research come through me. I look forward to meeting you when you begin your program here. We can discuss your interests further upon your arrival.
