ATSU-KCOM NOWPA holds service project for National Women Physicians Day

On Saturday, Feb. 3, members of the National Osteopathic Women Physicians Association (NOWPA) at A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) held a service project in honor of National Women Physicians Day. Student volunteers worked with the local chapter of Days for Girls to assemble 60 kits of hygiene products for girls in developing countries. Days for Girls is a nonprofit organization that provides girls around the world with sustainable menstrual care solutions, so they can stay in school longer and access the opportunities afforded by a quality education.
“Days for Girls is an amazing organization with outstanding women who spend time sewing the pieces of the kits before assembly day,” says Katelyn Deveraux, OMS II. “This was such a meaningful project because we knew these kits would keep girls in school, and may even inspire them to become physicians.”
Student leaders from ATSU-KCOM NOWPA hope to continue the relationship with Days for Girls, and plan to seek out additional volunteer opportunities with the organization.
