Jesse Beard, Major Burger, Laura Covert, Devin Kennedy, Jessica Kline, Jason Loden, Damon Morris, and Sara Warren all received scholarships in the amount of $20,000.
The Mineral Area Osteopathic Foundations exists to provide support through grants and scholarships to promote and improve the health of people in the foundation’s service area and to promote interest and influence in the science of osteopathic medicine and of the osteopathic profession.
The rural community of Farmington, Mo., located about 70 miles southwest of St. Louis, was home to Mineral Area Regional Osteopathic hospital, founded by a group of seven DOs in 1952. As a not-for-profit, it served the community until 2006 when it was sold to a for-profit company. The proceeds of the sale were channeled into creating the Mineral Area Osteopathic Foundation, which provided scholarships to 32 ATSU-KCOM students in 2010.
