AZ campus library exhibit: “Fire and Freedom: Food and Enslavement in Early America”

The Arizona campus library is hosting the “Fire and Freedom: Food and Enslavement in Early America” exhibit through the end of January 2018. This exhibit looks at the Chesapeake region during the early colonial era, where European settlers survived by relying upon indentured servants, Native Americans, and African slave labor for life-saving knowledge of farming and food acquisition.
Kirsty Gaither, MA, MLIS, Educational Technology Development Center director, will briefly outline the traditional history of medicine in the 17th to 19th centuries at a Still Healthy talk on Jan. 11, 2018 at noon. This talk will also cover to food as a source of knowledge and authority in shaping medical thought and practice.
