Community grant goes to ASDOH, low-income kids

A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health received a $2,000 community grant from CVS Caremark Corporation.

The funds will provide restorative oral care to children from low-income families who suffer from untreated tooth decay, pain, swelling, and infections. ATSU-ASDOH’s community dental clinics, located in Mesa and Glendale, Ariz., will provide care to these children.

“With one in four of Arizona’s children growing up in poverty, this community grant from CVS Caremark enables us to provide oral care for children who have no other resources,” said ATSU-ASDOH Dean Jack Dillenberg, D.D.S., M.P.H.

“CVS Caremark community grants are an effective way for us to contribute to the success of communities where we do business,” said Jennifer Veilleux, director of CVS Caremark Corporation. “We are proud to support  the work that ATSU-ASDOH does in the community.”

ATSU-ASDOH was selected to receive a grant through the CVS Caremark Community Grants 2010 grant application process. Grants were awarded to organizations that share a common interest with CVS Caremark of supporting programs for the uninsured, which help to make health services affordable and accessible. The goal of the program is to provide relief for both adults and children who lack medical insurance to get the proper medical attention needed.

“Through this grant, we are assuring that more uninsured individuals in Phoenix receive needed care, that the care received is of high quality, and that the uninsured are served by medical providers and professionals who are dedicated to improving their lives and the lives of others,” said Dennis Palmer, senior vice president, West Division, CVS Pharmacy.
