Dentistry in the United States – is it now a crisis?
Posted: November 19, 2009Statistics indicate that 43 percent of Americans do not have dental insurance. In 2000, 224 United States counties had no dental providers. National Public Radio’s program Here and Now recently featured a segment on the growing concern about availability and accessibility of dental care, pointing to ATSU’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health as one of the few dental schools directly addressing this issue by teaching a community-based education model that emphasizes public health dentistry.
