Documentary featuring ATSU women in medicine wins Emmy Award

A documentary highlighting women in osteopathic medicine won an Emmy Award in the category of Documentary – Historical. The documentary titled, “The Feminine Touch” featured A.T. Still University faculty and staff. Maragaret Wilson, DO, ’82, dean, A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine; and Jason Haxton, MA, director for the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine, were interviewed and provided commentary for the film.
“What a wonderful honor to see that the film The Feminine Touch was recognized with an Emmy award,” said Dr. Wilson. “This documentary not only highlights the significance of women in medicine but brings great recognition to the osteopathic profession by telling its story. It is exciting to see it recognized in this way.”
The award was given by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Suncoast Chapter. The University has advocated for equality in medicine for 125 years. A.T. Still, DO, accepted women into the University’s first class in 1892.
The film showcased the valiant women who rose above adversity to become osteopathic physicians during the early times, and it includes today’s prominent female osteopathic physicians who carry on that legacy.
