Dr. Beary appointed chair of ATSU-KCOM Neurobehavioral Sciences department

Dr. Jonathan Beary

Jonathan Beary, DO, ’09, succeeded G. Barry Robbins Jr., DO, FACN, ’70, as chair of the A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) Neurobehavioral Sciences department July 1.

Dr. Beary has served as an adjunct assistant professor in the department for nearly two years. He also chairs Northeast Regional Medical Center’s Stroke multidisciplinary committee in Kirksville, Missouri, a position he has held since March.

Dr. Beary says he is honored by the new role. Going forth, he plans to expand the College’s neurology and psychiatry disciplines to provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based education possible, while also pursuing new avenues for research in the neurosciences.

Another goal: helping his pupils traverse the field’s daunting landscape.

“Students are often intimidated by neuroscience because it can be complex,” he said. “I hope to change that.”
