Dr. Perry announced as a winner of the 2017 American Association of Kidney Patients’ Jenny Kitsen Awards

Maureen Munnelly Perry, DDS, MPA, associate dean for the Advanced Care Clinic at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health has been announced as one of the winners of the 2017 Jenny Kitsen Awards, given by the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP).

Dr. Perry was given the award for her grant application to AAKP to establish consistent protocols for patients with end stage renal and oral healthcare. “There is no consensus in the medical and dental community regarding what a protocol should contain, when it should be implemented and the type of antibiotic prophylaxis that should be prescribed for patients with renal disease,” said Dr. Perry.

The Jenny Kitsen Award is AAKP’s award honoring organizations dedicated to patient safety work. The award recognizes visionaries whose insight and perseverance have led to dramatic advances that improve patient care. Dr. Perry is one of two recipients of the 2017 award.
