Prashanth K. Haribabu, DDS, MDS, MSD, director of oral and maxillofacial surgery and assistant professor at A.T. Still University-Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health’s (ATSU-MOSDOH) St. Louis Dental Center, was recently the keynote speaker at the Fifth Global American Academy of Implant Dentistry Conference (2019) & 1st Asian Hard and Soft Tissue Symposium. Close to 1,000 dentists, surgeons, dental students, and delegates attended the conference held in New Delhi, India, with 14 different countries represented.

Dr. Haribabu’s keynote speech was on the topic of evolving medical conditions leading to dental implant failures, due to his training background and specialization. He also served as a chair person to moderate a scientific surgical session. During the session several presenters displayed their innovative surgical procedures.

“I felt quite honored to be invited as a keynote speaker among the stalwarts of implant dentistry,” said Dr. Haribabu. “Our protocols for oral implantology are part of global standards of practice.”

While at the 2019conference, Dr. Haribabu was also awarded the Master Implant Fellow Certification by the World Congress of Oral Implantology (WCOI).

Dr. Haribabu was one of the few candidates to take the WCOI’s Master Fellowship Implant Examination. As a candidate Dr. Haribabu had to present three surgical implant cases to a board of examiners and, then, defend his surgical work.

“For doctors, learning is a constant process and it is our career lifestyle,” said Dr. Haribabu. “Certifications like these help us to reassure that we provide the highest quality of care to our patients. Also, helping us to teach and train the next generation of doctors and dentists to provide high levels of healthcare.”

The American Academy of Implant Dentistry conference occurs annually in the U.S, and every few years, in a venue outside of the U.S. The conference also displays the latest in implant technology and equipment globally.
