Falls Prevention

A.T. Still University’s Still Standing Fall Prevention Outreach is a community health education program designed to teach the elderly falls prevention and address the fear of falling. “A Matter of Balance” is an eight-week program led by ATSU students and faculty which teaches the elders to re-structure their fears of falling by becoming more assertive and improving their balance and dexterity. Free of charge to the public, ATSU’s Aging Studies program offers courses throughout the year in many locations around the valley. Pictured in the accompanying photo are second-year students Jessica Markbreiter and Lisa Stobierski, who instructed the Falls Prevention course at Citadel Apartments and Assisted Living in Mesa, Arizona in January and February, 2015.
