KCOM students attend Hospital Day

Clinical Educational Affairs at ATSU’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine hosted Hospital Day today at the NEMO Fairgrounds. The annual event brings in hospitals from across the country to introduce their programs to first- and second-year students who are seeking out residency sites.

This year, a total of 73 vendors set up booths filled with program information and promotional items. This is up from 64 booths last year. Vendors included Duluth Family Medicine Residency, University of Minnesota, Lehigh Valley Hospital & Health Network Emergency Medical Residency, and University of Missouri Family Medicine, who just began targeting osteopathic students.

“We’re new to the D.O. circuit,” said University of Missouri Family Medicine representative Laura Morris, M.D. “This is our first year branching out.”

Hospital Day is a great way to inform students of the many opportunities available for rotations and residencies.

“It’s actually making my decision harder,” said Steven Lyons, OMS II. “I wasn’t interested in that many sites until I came here today. Now I have so many options to choose from.”
