Mesa parks and recreation 2020 update

The athletic training program and the Athletic Training Student Association (ATSA) at A.T. Still University (ATSU) continued working with the Mesa parks and recreation and their Positive Play initiatives this year, marking the seventh consecutive year of this partnership.

Students from the ATSA, guided by ATSU’s Athletic Training Postdoctoral Fellow Justin DiSanti, PhD, provided education to coaches and parents during the fall and spring coaches training, and participated in community outreach during the annual Celebrate Mesa event. ATSA students provided presentations that included education on concussion, heat illness, hydration, stretching techniques, and basic treatment and prevention of injuries throughout the year.
