Missouri campus celebrates Founder’s Day
Posted: September 30, 2010ATSU’s Missouri campus celebrated its Founder’s Day with three days of activities September 23-25. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and Continuing Medical Education participants attended the festivities, which included an all-campus meeting, community bus tour, powder puff football game, Still-A-Bration, and a 5k run.
The Missouri campus has observed an official Founder’s week since 1949.
All-Campus Meeting ATSU President Jack Magruder; Carl Bynum, D.O., ATSU board of trustees chair; and Douglas Wood, D.O., Ph.D., ATSU senior vice president-academic affairs each welcomed attendees and gave a brief state of the university update.
The Healing Touch Portrait artist Patricia DeLoss McWilliams unveiled “The Healing Touch,” a painting depicting Dr. A.T. Still’s compassionate provision of healthcare.
Still-A-Bration Founder’s week’s annual gathering and social event was held at the Thompson Campus Center. This year’s theme was ATSU Tailgate and Game Day. Attendees adorned their favorite sports wear, ate a meal together, and danced. Dan Martin, TCC director, was the grand prize Lenovo Netbook winner.
Powder Puff Football Game A rivalrous tradition between first- and second-year female D.O. students at KCOM, the second-years “put the freshmen to shame.”
