ASDOH student recognized by National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education

Adam Bennett, D4, was recognized for his commitment in enhancing interprofessional education by University of Minnesota (U of M) faculty and members of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (NCIPE).

Bennett spent six weeks in June and July working at NCIPE (located at U of M), an organization aimed at strengthening the advancement of collaborative, team-based health professions education and patient care.

He served in a student consultancy role developing a strategic vision to involve future students.

“My experience required me to conduct a thorough needs assessment and work with members of the Center and the University of Minnesota to identify available resources,” said Bennett. “Based upon these findings, I was able to present a series of recommendations to the NCIPE leadership.”

On his last day, Bennett gave a 20-minute presentation and held an interactive discussion with senior NCIPE leadership.

“Their willingness to work with students demonstrated a commitment to involving all members of our healthcare system; ranging from students to clinicians, from patients to policymakers,” said Bennett. “Personally, it provided a valuable lesson; achieving a paradigm shift requires incorporation of all members of the team.”
