Program director for new entry-level OTD program selected

Brandi Buchanan, OTD, OTR/L, has accepted a new role within the OT department as the program director for the Entry-Level Occupational Therapy Clinical Doctorate (OTD-E). The Entry-Level OTD is a new program for the OT department and will be added to  current programs that include the residential Entry-Level MS in OT, the online post-professional Advanced MS in OT, and the online post-professional OTD programs. As OTD-E program director, Dr. Buchanan will be overseeing the development and management of the Entry-Level OTD program and preparation of accreditation documents.

As a faculty member in the OT department at ATSU, Dr.Buchanan has taught a wide range of courses including  pediatrics, basic patient care skills, activity analysis, ethics, medical conditions, management, and professional development. She has been instrumental in organizing and developing community partners for classroom enrichment activities and fieldwork, works to promote inter-professional education activities and is active in community service for seniors and children through work with Car-Fit, Matter of Balance, East Valley Child Crisis Center, and Oakwood Creative Care senior center.

Dr. Buchanan has also been active with international service projects through a trip to Ethiopia with Embrace International and Hermosillo, Mexico, in 2012 with the Phoenix Sister Cities Disabilities Awareness Committee.
