Sports medicine program 2020 update

This year, A.T. Still University’s Athletic Training Student Association (ATSA) voted to focus their fundraising efforts for 2019-20 on giving back to the local athletic training and sports medicine community.

The ATSA developed a plan to support an outreach effort to guide area secondary school athletic training programs in implementing best practices for the preparation for and prevention of heat related illnesses and sudden death in sports. The ATSA planned to donate web bulb globe thermometers, heat illness treatment kits (tarps and coolers), and aid in policy development to local sports medicine programs.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fundraising efforts and the donation application and distribution program had to be cancelled. The ATSA plans on continuing these efforts in 2020-21 as part of their continued community outreach.
