Poster presentation at AACOM

The poster “Innovation Spine and Pelvic Models for the Joint Injection Techniques Training” was presented at the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) 2019 conference in Washington, DC. This research poster represents the hard work of not just the library’s 3D print shop, but also Spark Tank winners Marcus Matson, OMS IV; Zachary Headman, OMS IV; and Debra Loguda-Summers, CLSS, public services & 3D print services manager, along with ATSU-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine professors Robert Schneider, DO, residency supervisor; James Potter, DO, associate professor; and Tatyana Kondrashova, PhD, associate professor.

The goal of the study was to evaluate the perception of 3D printed lumbar, cervical, and pelvic models for mastering joint injection techniques using ultrasound needle guidance by medical students and residents. The results of the research suggested that 3D printed models provided realistic training and could serve as a cost-saving alternative to the more expensive commercial trainers now being used.

Poster presentation at ASRA

Our research poster “Developing neuraxial and regional pain procedure skills through innovative technology using 3D-Printed models” was presented at the 44th Annual Regional Anesthesiology & Acute Pain Medicine Meeting (ASRA) in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This poster showcases the research done using 3D printing by Loguda-Summers, Matson, and Headman, along with Drs. Schneider, Potter, and Kondrashova.
