ATSU sponsors American Indian Heritage Month event
Posted: November 5, 2013Faculty, staff, and students on the ATSU Mesa campus are invited to attend a celebration of American Indian Heritage Month sponsored by the National Center for American Indian Health Professions (NCAIHP). The event featuring American Indian arts and crafts, food, hoop dancers and music will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., in the main lobby and on the south patio.
In addition, at 11:30 a.m., ATSU President Phelps will receive a sculpture on behalf of ATSU donated by George Blue Spruce, DDS, MPH, assistant dean for American Indian affairs and assistant professor at ATSU’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH), and his wife to ATSU. The sculpture, “Tewa Butterfly” was gifted to the Blue Spruces by nationally-renowned American Indian artist Upton Greyshoes Ethellbah.
